Right now, a community plan for York Central is being created, debated and voted on. YoCo (York Central Co-Owned) is doing this in partnership with Demos who are testing a new approach to large scale public engagement and decision making. Come and find out more about the approach…and join in.York Central is a large area of York, near the railway station and behind the National Railway Museum. Formerly railway works, it will become a place to live, work and spend time. In 2019 York Central Partnership developed a masterplan in dialogue with a public engagement process - commissioned by York Central Partnership - called My York Central. Some of the ideas developed through My York Central were reflected in the York Central masterplan - however, some were not and others were neither addressed nor foreclosed. We are now crowdsourcing a community plan for York Central, springboarding from the masterplan – a plan that that will meet the needs, hopes and desires of the people of York. YoCo is bringing the local passion and know how, Demos is bringing the tech, platform and a splash of democratic theory.
