Look Again is a year round programme that develops and supports the creative sector in the north east. As well as the hugely popular Look Again Festival, we run Look Again project space, hosting exhibitions and events, Creative Chit-Chat nights and our creative business incubator, all designed to connect, highlight and strengthen creative practices in Aberdeen.Look Again is a project based at Gray’s School of Art, Robert Gordon University. Plymouth based artists Molly Erin McCarthy, Rhys Morgan and Carly Seller talk about their work exhibited in Paradigms and broader practice.

Join us online for part two of our two-part series of talks as part of Paradigms, an exhibition of work by emerging artists in Aberdeen and Plymouth, curated by Rachel Grant. The exhibition includes work by visual artists Phoebe McBride, Molly Erin McCarthy, Rhys Morgan, Carly Seller, Abby Beatrice Quick and writer Tilly Craig at the Look Again project space in Aberdeen. The event gathers Plymouth based artists Molly Erin McCarthy, Rhys Morgan and Carly Seller to talk about their work exhibited in the show and broader practice. The works have all been produced over the last two years and reflect the continued paradigm shifts that have taken place during the Covid-19 pandemic and national lockdowns. At times this is dealt with through ideas of isolation, touch and healing in the work of Carly Seller. Rhys Morgan’s work has explored queer identity in the context of national lockdowns and a ‘new normal’. Molly Erin McCarthy has had the opportunity to realise a body of work previously adapted for online spaces, as arts and cultural venues closed. The work imagines a future in which remnants of a bridge in Plymouth are discovered during a scavenging expedition to a post-climate collapse, oceanic Earth – reminding us that beyond the pandemic we’re living in times of multiple crisis. This event is supported by Look Again a creative unit based at Gray’s School of Art, Aberdeen. In response to the British Art Show 9 arriving in Aberdeen, Look Again facilitated an opportunity for a curatorial exchange programme, supported with funding from Creative Scotland. The result of which is the exhibition and public programme. Molly Erin McCarthyMolly Erin McCarthy (a.k.a molly.erh) is a multimedia artist based in Plymouth, UK. Her practice moves between physical &amp; digital processes, iterating across sculpture, video, interactive/online media, GIFs, drawing &amp; collage. Her work explores the interconnectedness of things, considering how the contemporary experience of ‘reality’ is actually a tangled web of many worlds. Using world-building techniques drawing from sci-fi, video games and online communities, intertwining fact and fiction in past, present and futures. McCarthy graduated from Plymouth College of Art in 2020. Alongside her practice she has worked with organisations such as Plymouth Art Weekender, KARST Contemporary Arts &amp; MIRROR. She is currently a Co-Director of the member-led creative network CAMP.Rhys MorganRhys Morgan is an Artist and Producer based in Plymouth, UK. Having studied at Falmouth University he has been working and exhibiting around the South West and the wider UK since 2014. His work often explores ideas around information and power structures, the interaction of this with queer experience and how this affects the expected norms of day-to-day queer existence. He is currently undertaking an MFA in Fine Art at Goldsmiths, London.Carly Seller Carly Seller is based in Plymouth where she works across performance, moving-image, photographic processes, drawing, and object-making. She uses embodied approaches to explore how human bodies relate to space, and how feelings and sensations from inner landscapes can be made visible. Seller received an MA in Photography and the Land from Plymouth University in 2016. Recent exhibitions include Plymouth Contemporary (2017) &amp; the Jerwood Drawing Prize (2017-18). Her live performance, Resonant Vessels, was presented at KARST in 2020, funded by a Curator Space Artist Bursary. Alongside her art practice, Seller works as a creative facilitator and holistic practitioner within yoga, sound therapy and reiki.
