In response to feedback from the Born at the Right Time parenting workshops, we are delighted to announce the launch of themed workshops where parents of children with complex needs apply their lived experience and expert knowledge to lead workshops on subjects that matter to us.Our plan for each workshop is for it to be relaxed, informative and an opportunity to talk about the real world with people walking the same path. Each session costs £10 or the whole series can be booked here for a reduced rate of £35. The information giving aspect of the sessions will be recorded and available to those who have booked on but are unable to attend. Each session will be interactive with break out rooms enabling to you to talk to other family members in a similar situation to you.If you have trouble paying for these workshops email admin@bornattherighttime.com for financial assistance.Season 1: Born at the Right Time themed workshops (Winter 2021/22)Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs)3rd November 7.30-9pm Lucy ParrLucy is a trainee Educational Psychologist at Exeter university. Her Oxford masters research was on SEND reforms and the introduction of EHCPs. She has previously worked for Dorset as a provision lead collating information for and writing EHCPs. In this workshop she will explore:<ol><li>The process of acquiring an EHCP</li><li>What parents need to consider </li><li>How parents might get support</li></ol><a href="https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/182662688017" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Book only Season 1 Episode 1 on EHCPs here.</a>Making complaints, working together and not losing your s**t 20th November 9.30-11am Rachel WrightRachel is the founder of Born at the Right Time which aims to #bridgethegap between families of children with complex needs and the practitioners who support them. She’s the author of The Skies I’m Under, a qualified nurse and unqualified parent of three. She runs CPD certified training in communication and co-production, however, she still makes complaints and doesn’t always get it right. In this workshop she will explore:<ol><li>Is there way a good way to make complaints?</li><li>Working with rather than against practitioners</li><li>Looking after your own mental health at the same time (she finds this easier to talk about than do)</li></ol><a href="https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/182680310727" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Book only Season 1 Episode 2 on Complaints here.</a>Well-being for parents and carers 26th January 2022 10-11.30am Joanna Griffin Jo is a Counselling Psychologist, author of the Amazon best-seller Day by Day and parent of a child with complex needs. Jo will explore ways in which parents can look after their own well-being (in the real world). This well-being workshop will look at: <ol><li>Common emotional responses from parents of disabled children </li><li>Themes from the research that supports wellbeing</li><li>Practical tips for parents and carers</li></ol><a href="https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/182689377847" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Book only Season 1 Episode 3 on Parent and carer well-being here.</a>The workshop for dads who would like to be anywhere other than a workshop 23rd February 2022 7.30-9pm Dr Tim WrightTim is a GP and parent of a 16-year-old who has complex needs. He loves the outdoors and would rather be anywhere than on a workshop for parents of children who have complex needs. The only reason he read The Skies I’m Under is because his wife wrote it and he starred in it.
