Heinz Henghes: Art and internment during WWII

Ian Henghes will give some context on his sculptor father's life as well as sharing accounts of his internment and showing some of his art.

<p>The sculptor Heinz Henghes was born in Hamburg in 1906. Before coming to the UK in 1937 he had lived in the USA, France and Italy. Interned at the outbreak of the second world war as an &#x27;enemy alien&#x27; and sent to Australia on the Dunera, Heinz found his place among his new companions making his mark musically and artistically. His son Ian will give some context on his fathers life mentioning others who influenced him including Noguchi, Brancusi and Ezra Pound, as well as sharing accounts of his internment and showing some of his art.
