Shut Up and Write: writing retreat for Advance HE Fellowship applicants

A half day online event providing time, space and guidance for HE or FE colleagues writing their applications.

The CILIP Information Literacy Group is pleased to host a Shut Up and Write session for HE or FE colleagues writing applications for Advance HE fellowships at Associate, Fellow and Senior Fellow. The session will be facilitated by Jane Secker from City, University of London and Sam Aston from University of Manchester, both Senior Fellows who mentor, review and assess at their own institutions. Using the Pomodoro technique, you will spend fixed amounts of time dedicated to writing your own application. During the session you will spend quiet time alongside others putting words on a page to contribute to your portfolio. The aim of the session is to assist you to carve out time to write in your schedule and to provide peer support through connecting with others who share the same goal. There will be frequent breaks during which we will discuss the challenges that you are facing as you write and in particular how to evidence your practice in relation to the UK Professional Standards Framework. In addition, you will hear from some colleagues who have already gone through the writing process applying for Fellowship and Senior Fellowship. We are thrilled to welcome Chris Morrison from University of Kent, Kat Halliday from University of Warwick and Tom Peach from York St John University.We have built in some time before and after the session for informal networking as the virtual room will open at 1.30pm and close at 5.30pm. Zoom links to access the session will be sent out prior to the event. We really hope that you can join us for an interesting and productive afternoon.
