For decades, autism was widely misunderstood as a condition that affected mainly boys. We now know that autistic girls, women and people assigned female at birth (AFAB) are far more common than once believed - yet recognition, understanding, and support still lag significantly behind. As a result, many go through life unseen, unsupported, or misdiagnosed.We are delighted to welcome Dr Rachel Moseley (Principal Academic in Psychology, Bournemouth University), who will combine lived experience with research to shine a light on this underrepresented group.In this talk, Dr Moseley will explore:<ul><li>How autism can present differently in girls, women and AFAB individuals</li><li>Why so many are overlooked or diagnosed late and the impact of that missed recognition</li><li>The unique challenges faced across childhood, adolescence, adulthood and beyond</li><li>How to explore possible undiagnosed autism, including tips for preparing for assessment</li></ul>This session will help deepen understanding, challenge outdated assumptions, and ensure autistic girls, women and AFAB people receive the recognition and support they deserve.
