<p>Loudon, a Scottish landscaping architect was influential in the development of curvilinear glasshouses, patenting a glazing bar peculiar to these; helped invent the semi-detached house and established the accepted norm of modern gardening. He should be far better known! Jane continued his publishing enterprise, wrote the first book for lady gardeners and began the tradition of influential women gardeners. She was also a science fiction novelist!  An amazing Victorian double act.</p>
