Cultureword  is a writing development organisation based in Manchester, providing opportunities for new and aspiring writers to develop their talent and potential. Our competitions, workshops and events act as a point of focus for many writers seeking encouragement and confidence. From small beginnings in 1977, we have grown into the largest new writing, community writing and publishing organisation in the North West. We work on regional, national and international levels, promoting new writing and helping new writers become more successful.

Cultureword’s National Black Writers Conference 2021 presents: 'Dreaming on Screen'

Screenings of creative collaborations by Global Majority artists &amp; short films on the theme 'We Want to Dream'Global majority artists want to dream, we want the freedom to create whatever we want, rather than being squeezed into tick-boxes or satisfying someone else’s expectations. At this Black Writers Conference 2021 film night we will be Dreaming on Screen, showcasing exceptional talent. Programme:•	New poetry &amp; dance collaboration by mandla rae and Yandass•	‘Intoxicated Expectations’ a short film using poetry and movement to explore intimacy, race and colonialism by Clare Ramsaran, Fae Wolfe and Col Bashir.•	Screening of short films entered into this year's Black Writers Conference competition on the theme of “We Want to Dream”Event Time: 1 hour Free, Suggested Donation £10Book a Conference Pass &amp; receive access to all Black Writers Conference events for just £30Access: This event will have AI-generated auto-captioning.
