Sleeping Cats & Dogs Sculpture Pottery Workshop

Sleeping Cats & Dogs Sculpture Pottery Workshop

The WalrondsCullompton, England
Sunday 19 April  •  10 - 16:30
Overview

Come join me for a fun pottery workshop where you can create your own adorable terracotta sleeping dog or cat masterpiece!

Hello,

My name is Helen McCormick and I'm a local ceramic artist and qualified art and design teacher. I've been creating objects from clay for the past 30 years, and I still absolutely love the process. I am passionate about teaching and have created this workshop to share my skills, knowledge and experience with anyone who would like to have a go for the first time or to develop their skills further.

This workshop is designed to be a relaxed, friendly space where you can meet new people and enjoy the opportunity to create, learn and have fun. During the day, you’ll learn how to hand-build your own sleeping cat or dog sculpture using traditional techniques. I’ll take you through each stage step by step and support you all the way — no experience necessary.

All materials and equipment are provided. Tea and coffee will be available throughout the day. Please bring photographs of your chosen animal from different angles, a packed lunch, wear old clothes or an apron, and trim any long nails.

After the workshop, I will carefully take your sculpture home and fire it in my kiln. These sculptures are not glazed as the terracotta will age beautifully in your garden over time. Your sculpture will be ready to collect approximately 6 weeks after the workshop from the Walronds. I will let you know the date and time. Please keep an eye out for the emails or contact me if your email address changes.

NB I am happy to store your work for 6 months after the collection date, after which time it will be donated to charity.

There is FREE parking at the Walronds (access via Shortlands Lane, just before the fire station on Tiverton Road).
