W. SHANSHAN 珊然軒, established by Dr Shanshan Wang, is an antique gallery located in St James's, central London. Its major focus is on Asian antiques, in particular Chinese pottery and sculpture from the Neolithic period through to the Han and Tang dynasties, with an extension to later Korean and Japanese arts of the similar origins. It aims to rediscover the charm of the early objects from which later art forms derive as well as to exemplify the high aesthetic level that their later “descendants” have consistently inherited.The gallery also performs as a platform to share knowledge though themed exhibitions, handling sessions, lectures, etc. where art lovers regardless of age and origins can communicate and grow know-hows together.  The founder Dr Wang has developed a wide range of interests during the seventeen years that she has lived in Europe. The art events will reflect these interests and will aim to demonstrate cross-cultural and inter-disciplinary influences between European and Asian art. W. Once upon a time, there was a Chinese fashion in all English country houses. How is this tradition being carried on and is there still a market now? For the third event in our live conversation series, we will welcome Tim Langston, owner of Timothy Langston and expert in European decorative art to answer your questions.Timothy Langston is the owner of <a href="https://www.timothylangston.com/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Timothy Langston Fine Art &amp; Antiques</a>, an established dealership of fine art, antique furniture and decoration in Ebury Street, Belgravia, London. After studying music at university, he studied at Sotheby’s Institute of Art and then continued his training at Mallett &amp; Son Antiques Ltd of Mayfair, London. After four years employment in the trade, he set up his own business where he continues handling a wealth of historic furniture, objects and paintings, dating from the 17th through to the mid-20th centuries.One of Timothy’s core interests is English furniture design and its relationship to the development of architecture. He is equally devoted to the discovery of fine Italian and French works of art as well as furniture, particularly those pieces of the Louis XV, Louis XVI, Directoire and Empire Periods. He believes the best modern day interiors combine a broad spectrum of styles: Continental pieces add surprise and fantasy when combined with English forms.
