Community Trees MK

We are planting a mini forest at The Leys  on Saturday 6th of December 2025. This is the second and final planting to complete the project

Each will start promptly so please allow plenty of time to get to the planting site.* <h3>We are Community Trees MK and we are planting trees across the city of MK with the help of the people of MK.</h3> We are partnering with West Bletchley Council, MK City Council and The International Tree Foundation to plant a mini forest at this lovely site known as The Leys Recreation Ground, in West Bletchley. We are planting native tree species which will improve local biodiversity and enhance the green space for all residents.Mini forests were first developed in Japan and the first one was planted in the UK in Oxford in 2020. The benefits include the trees grow very fast as they are planted very close together. The mini forest creates a dense copse which is ideal for wildlife in the form of insects, birds and mammals to flourish.This is the second and final phase of planting for this projectTo plant trees with us you need to book places in advance.On the Day:The date is Saturday 6th December 2025. There will be two planting sessions that day:1. 10:00am-11:30am, and2. 12 noon-1:30pm.We would like to see lots of local people come along to help us plant trees. This is an open-air event so please dress for cold and potentially damp weather, please wear stout boots or shoes. Please bring gardening gloves and come ready to do some digging.No experience is required, full instruction will be given. The aim is to have fun while helping the local environment.This is a family-friendly event, however, please note there are no toilet facilities in the immediate area. Please bring your own refreshments.All under 16's to be accompanied by an adult.Equipment:Tools will be provided and will be available when you arrive. Getting to the planting site:We would really appreciate it if you were able to walk or cycle or use public transport if you can.If you need to travel by car, we ask that you park in the car park off Sherwood Drive. The car park can be located on Sat Nav using postcode MK3 6HY. You will then need to make your way to the site.To get to the site from the car park you will need to turn left onto Sherwood Drive, then left onto Whalley Drive.
