Do join us for David&#x27;s engaging workshop....if you are a coach, counsellor / psychotherapist, group worker, teacher and/or practitioner in any helping profession, and are interested in the dynamics of groups.And here&#x27;s a message from David, introducing you to his session:Dear Prospective Workshop Participant,If you&#x27;re anything like me, I assume that at least one of your clients can be, or has been, particularly frustrating! Does such a client come to mind?In this workshop, I’ll give a brief overview of my chapter and focus mainly on the topic of resistance - a cornerstone of psychodynamic work that applies well to group coaching supervision. It is well-known that resistance is a part of the flow of forward progress in our work as coaches and supervisors. And while calling resistances out directly can sometimes yield great results, naming them prematurely can have the unintended effect of strengthening them or worse - driving them underground where they lay dormant and untouched by our efforts. You will be invited into a dialogue about resistance, in our work and in ourselves. We’ll play with the idea that all resistances tell a story, albeit one without words. We will look at a paradox of resistance - that we actually want our clients to resist. And we&#x27;ll do all of this in the group setting of this workshop, where we can see firsthand some of the unique ways that groups can bring creativity and enjoyment to this work. How do we listen to resistances? And how can we work effectively with these non-verbal communications to help ourselves and our client’s grow? Verbal participation is highly encouraged. David RothauserDavid brings expertise in applied psychoanalysis and interpersonal dynamics to his work as a coach supervisor and executive coach. He began his career as a school teacher and went into non-profit leadership before starting his independent coaching practice. David provides both individual and group supervision and has honed his craft by working closely with his own supervisors for over a decade. He studied coaching supervision at Oxford Brookes University, executive coaching at Columbia University, psychodynamic group leadership at the Center for Group Studies, and Modern Psychoanalysis at the Center for Modern Psychoanalytic Studies.
