Itinerary (subject to change)*

Day 1: Arrival at the hostel from 5pm - choose a bed, make a cuppa and relax. Introductions from your guide for the weekend, Emily (see more below). Dinner at 7pm served by our caterer, Lisa, followed by an evening of relaxing and getting to know one another before a busy weekend ahead. If we're lucky, we'll catch the sun setting over the sea!

Day 2: Saturday is hiking day! Once we have had our breakfast and packed our lunch, we'll head out on a hike to explore coast and countryside from the doorstep of the bunkhouse. Mountain Leader, Emily, will guide us on a moderate 8 mile route (approx) where we will be spoilt with stunning scenery throughout.

We'll then head back to our lovely Bunkhouse for a relaxing outdoor stretch session and enjoy some downtime. Depending on the weather, there is the option to head to the beach for a swim in the sea.

Dinner served at 7pm.

Day 3: After breakfast, we'll be collected by minibus for our boat trip around Skomer Island. We'll journey west to the coast for a walk to take in some spectacular scenery on our way to St David's. Here, we'll board a private charter, which will take us on a guided tour of St Bride's bay, circling Skomer Island. We'll take in this unique landscape and all the wonderful wildlife that lives there, inlcuding puffind and dolphins. Packed lunch included. This is a two hour tour and our transport back to the bunkhouse will be waiting for us when we return to the dock.

Dinner served at 7pm.

Day 4: After breakfast. we'll pack our things and drive a short distance to a car park. Our last day offers a gentle walk to round up the weekend. More stunning views and some interesting history to learn about.

Who is your guide?

A bit about Emily:

Hello everyone! I'm a Mountain Leader and Content Creator based in Glossop at the edge of the Dark Peak. I’ve always been outdoorsy since being a young girl but hiking became a real obsession in 2019 when I started to go solo. I'm a mum of two and as well as enjoying the outdoors with my family, I always make time for my own hikes, runs and wild swims as they keep me sane! I aim to inspire other women to learn the many benefits of exploring in the outdoors and I’m passionate about sharing my love for nature with you.

About the accommodation:

Opened in 2001 in beautifully converted stone barns, Caerhafod Lodge offers comfortable hostel accommodation and spectacular views within the Pembrokeshire Coast National park.

The hostel has a self catering kitchen, large sitting room, two stunning sea view patios with BBQ and all rooms have bunkbeds* and en-suite bathrooms. The rooms sleep 23 but with only 15 spaces available, we'll have plenty of space.

The Hostel is on the Celtic Cycle Route and Coastal Bus Route which makes walking the Pembrokeshire Coast Path an easy and memorable experience. There's no curfew and ample free parking space.

*beds/bedrooms will be on a first come, first served basis. Where possible, we'll do our best to ensure friends can stay together.

Getting there:

The address is Caerhafod Llanrhian, Nr, St Davids, Haverfordwest SA62 5BD Google Maps Parking is free at the venue.

What to bring:

  • An overnight bag for 3 nights (more info on this will be sent via email a few weeks beforehand)
  • Hiking boots or trainers with good grip

  • Layers suitable for the time of year
  • Waterproofs
  • Walking poles (optional)

Safety:

We like to make hikes and courses as enjoyable as possible for everyone, so we keep a slow and steady pace. It's about taking in the views and being in nature, not about rushing to the finish line. Having said that, you are responsible for your own health and safety. If you are unsure as to whether you are fit to attend, please either consult your doctor or let me know your concerns.

Emily holds a Level 3 Outdoor First Aid Certificate so she will be on hand to deal with any emergencies.

Dogs:

I'm afraid dogs are not allowed on this weekend.
