This is the first of a two-part webinar series exploring the transformative intersections of disability, vulnerability, creativity, and belonging within the life of the church. Together, these sessions offer practical theological reflections that reimagine being human beyond systems of ‘normalcy’ that exclude on the basis of (dis)ability and instead focus on how we are creatures shaped in and through interdependence, called into deeper practices of community through mutual care and shared artistry. Please note: To attend the second webinar on 7th of May please ensure you book for this separately. <a href="" title="" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Treasured Earthen Vessels: Vulnerability, Relation, and Disability beyond Normalcy</a>This webinar considers vulnerability as a fundamental condition of human life, yet one unevenly distributed across social systems. Moving beyond the cult of normalcy and its idols of autonomy, efficiency, and productivity, it invites us to rethink disability as part of the complexity and variability of being embodied, loved into being by God, and open toward relations of interdependence and mutual care, gesturing toward shalom. Professor Thomas E. Reynolds is an Associate Professor of Theology at Emmanuel College, part of the Toronto School of Theology at the University of Toronto.Professor Reynolds is renowned for his work at the intersection of theology and disability studies. His seminal book, Vulnerable Communion: A Theology of Disability and Hospitality, challenges societal norms by advocating for a theology that embraces human vulnerability and diversity. Drawing from personal experiences, particularly as a father to a disabled son, he offers profound insights into how disability can inform and enrich theological discourse This webinar begins at 7pm and will last for 90 minutes.It is open to clergy and lay ministers in the Diocese of London and to those who work to advocate for greater access and inclusion within London churches.The webinar will be on Zoom in meetings mode with captions enabled.Please let us know of any access requirements when booking.
