A free workshop for Cardiff Met students and staff. Bring your items.

Bring your broken or worn textiles, or just learn the basic skills with our scrap fabrics. If you already have sewing skills, come along and share your skills with others! We'll provide all of the materials necessary including threads, fabrics, needles, pins, buttons and more. Becca will also bring her sewing machine for those of you with bigger jobs, or would like to learn. Things we can help with 🧶 Hemming 🧣 Small tears 🧚🏽‍♀️ Small patching 🧤 Using a sewing machine 🪡 Button replacement 👕 Basic hand sewing skills 🧵 Elastic replacement 👖 Embroidery cover ups 👜 Hook and eye / popper replacement Things we cannot help with 👝 Zip replacement Why not pick something up on Tuesdays Community Market clothes swap to upcycle? According to WRAP, reusing a pair of jeans instead of buying a new pair could save over 30kg of CO2e, the equivalent of making 600 cups of tea. We know our Cardiff Met community are fantastic at repairing and recycling our textiles. Our textile Repair Cafe volunteers are always very busy, and our clothes swaps are always successful! So we're offering two brand new sessions that teach you the skills and give you the confidence to sew it yourself. Book your space, but feel free to drop in at a time that's convenient to you. We recommend you come at least 30 minutes before the session ends to ensure enough time to do your repair. Llandaff Campus, Room R0.02
