Shakespeare in Southwark Guided Walk

Shakespeare in Southwark Guided Walk

Southwark CathedralLondon, England
Thursday, Apr 23 from 3 pm to 4:30 pm
Overview

Led by our experienced and knowledgeable Cathedral Guides, explore Southwark at a leisurely pace on the Bard's birthday

At the heart of William Shakespeare’s theatrical world was the building we now know as Southwark Cathedral. This was the scene of baptisms, burials and marriages for the actors who graced the stage of the Elizabethan theatre.

Our walk begins at Southwark Cathedral where you can discover our Shakespeare Memorial and Stained Glass window (depending on any services or other events taking place on the day).

We will then explore Bankside, wandering the riverside streets to the sites of the Globe and Rose theatres.

Duration : 90 minutes

Start: Southwark Cathedral Courtyard, SE1 9DA

Finish: Southwark Cathedral Courtyard, SE1 9DA

Meeting point: Southwark Cathedral Courtyard located on the north side of the Cathedral opposite the River Thames.

Please ensure you wear sensible footwear for this walk and be prepared for all weather conditions. We also recommend you bring a small bottle of water with you.

Income generated by these walks is used to help maintain the ministry and fabric of Southwark Cathedral.
