Herbal Foraging Walk Brighton with Jessie Martelhof

Circa in the ParkStanmer, England
Sunday 5 July  •  14 - 16
Overview

Join qualified Herbalist Jessie Martelhof for a relaxing afternoon and learn about the fascinating world of wild plant and tree medicines

THEME FOR THIS WALK: Mid-summer wild flowers and tree medicines.

Join Medical Herbalist Jessie Martelho on a gentle ramble around the fields, hedgerows, and woods of Stanmer Park to learn about the medicinal properties of the seasonal native wild plants and trees that grow there.

Stanmer Park is full of beautiful mature trees, some of which are medicinal. The Walk will also take in lots of medicinal plants and wild medicinal flowers.

Learn how to safely identify and sustainably harvest these wild medicinal plants and learn about the different ways you might prepare them at home from drying to making oils or tinctures. Jessie will also share some of the fascinating history and folklore surrounding the use of these wild plants.

You will be stunned to learn about the rich medicinal traditions of many of the plants we consider ‘weeds’ .

The walks will focus on what is in season and ready to use at that particular time of year. This is usually predominately leaves in early spring, flowers later in the spring and summer, then seeds, berries and roots in the late summer and autumn. However, there are usually a bit of all of these things at all times of year!

DISTANCES INVOLVED

The walks are not strenuous or particularly far in distance, they are more of a slow and relaxing ramble, with the emphasis on looking and learning (handling and sometimes tasting) rather than making distance. All abilities will be welcome. The walk starting location is accessible by public transport.
