Estate Planning & Tax: Wills, Trusts & Executries 2026 Dundee (K3413)
Overview
Black holes in perceived necessary revenue continue to trouble the still relatively new Labour government; and the extent of speculation on what might be in the 2025 Budget was unprecedented in quantity and variety. By the time of these seminars, all (or at least something) will have been revealed and the Spring Statement may extend matters further. Manifesto pledges on not raising the biggest tax earners has increased the pressure on capital taxes; and forthcoming changes announced in 2024 to agricultural and business property reliefs and inheritance tax on pensions already loom ever larger, as clients and their advisers plan to mitigate as best as they can. This alone would make the latest edition of this hugely popular seminar more important than ever for all wills, estate and tax practitioners.
Alan Barr and new conspirator Yvonne Evans will appear across Scotland and the airwaves to present this review of what has happened in 2025 and its consequences for the future. Even without the UK Government’s efforts, there are significant developments from the Scottish courts, UK courts on tax matters, the Scottish Parliament and other sources of enlightenment and irritation. As much of this as possible will be covered - IHT, CGT and relevant income tax, as well as non-tax developments. Statutes, case-law and other practical developments will receive attention. It is as before a vital review (with a bit of preview) for anyone working in this area – comprehensive coverage with detailed materials, delivered with a light touch. Once again, bring back some professional joy to the twin inevitabilities of death and taxes.
