Thursday 26 FebruaryCall of the NightingaleSpeaker: Nick PennyFollowing his captivating talk on kingfishers along the River Nene last year, Nick returns to share his experiences with Northamptonshire’s nightingales. This unique presentation combines nature and music, as Nick performs live on harp and handpan, accompanying birdsong recordings he has made himself.Join us for a morning of storytelling, sound, and the magic of the natural world. Thursday 12 MarchA Pansy Resting on its Laurels: Reminiscences of a Military Intelligence OperatorSpeaker: Joseph LindsayJoseph Lindsay’s military career spanned nearly thirty years. Originally serving in the infantry, he spent two decades as a Military Intelligence operator.This is a human story of ordinary people doing an extraordinary job, offering the audience a rare and intriguing insight into the world of Military Intelligence. Thursday 26 MarchWhen the Landships Came to TownSpeaker: Helen FrostDiscover the incredible story of the 'Tank Banks'—a nationwide campaign to raise funds for the war effort through investments in War Bonds and War Savings Certificates.Learn how these mighty machines stirred excitement as they toured towns and cities across the country. With a special focus on Northampton’s own Tank Week, Helen shares what happened when ‘Ole Bill’ rolled into the Market Square.
