LSFF x Mascara Film Club: A Raised Voice, Amplified

A selection of artists films exploring how language, communication and meaning circulate around disability, deafness, and chronic illness.

Shifting between experimentation and mistranslation, transparency and legibility, these films interrogate modes of speaking and listening.

Here, access is a practice: negotiated in dialogue, shaped by communications technology and examined intimately. Crossed wires, soap-opera fragments, military exercises, and captioning labour collide, as lip-reading becomes a mode of resistance and play.
