Overview

Learn how brain injury affects patient behaviour in GP settings and gain practical strategies to reduce frustration and improve interactions

Brain injury survivors often face significant hidden challenges when navigating healthcare systems. Difficulties with memory, communication, processing speed, emotional regulation, and insight can make appointments, forms, waiting times, and changes to routine overwhelming. These barriers frequently lead to frustration, distress, and behaviours that may be misunderstood within busy GP settings.

This training is designed to support GPs and practice staff in recognising the impact of brain injury on day-to-day interactions, improving communication, and responding effectively to behaviours that challenge. By increasing understanding and making small, practical adjustments, GP practices can improve patient experiences, reduce conflict, and support more effective clinical engagement.
