Stowe talks: Understanding how abuse can manifest during divorce
Overview
Going through divorce can be stressful, emotionally draining and practically exhausting even if you have been in a healthy relationship. Abusive and controlling behaviour often becomes more obvious during the divorce process. It can manifest in different ways during divorce and separation, in fact some survivors don’t even realise they have been abused until they begin the separation process.
To explore what abuse can look like during divorce and separation, to understand which warning signs you should watch out for, and understand where to get the right support, Stowe talks is delighted to welcome back Caron Kipping. Caron is a certified Divorce Coach and IDVA (Domestic Violence Advocate) specialising in supporting people who are in or have been in abusive and controlling relationships.
In this session, Caron will explore:
· What is domestic abuse
· Why domestic abuse can heighten during divorce or separation
· What abuse during divorce can look like
· Support available for victim-survivors
Caron and Ashley will answer questions at the end of the presentation.
