WANDSWORTH: Poetry Speed Writing with Ruth Beddow
This fast-paced, low-pressure session is designed to get words on the page and poets talking. Run by our resident poetry facilitator Ruth!
This fast-paced, low-pressure session is designed to get words on the page and poets talking. Through a series of short, timed prompts — both individual and collective — we’ll write quickly and instinctively, sharing ideas and fragments along the way. There’s no expectation to polish or perform — just an opportunity to generate new material, meet other poets and enjoy the buzz of writing together.
So join us in the cosy, inspiring setting of Morocco Bound – there are bookshelves aplenty and delicious drinks available while you write. One hot or soft drink is included in each ticket, with a wide range of beer and wine also on offer.
About the tutor
Ruth is a London-based poet and tutor originally from the West Midlands. She believes everyone can write poetry and is passionate about making the community more inclusive and accessible. Ruth’s first pamphlet ‘The Thought Sits With Me’ was published by Nine Pens in 2022. She edited Morocco Bound’s first anthology of poetry, ‘Slow Progress’, in 2024. She has placed and been shortlisted for several prizes in the last few years, including the Passionfruit, New Poet’s, Plough and Prole Prizes.
