Who is this event aimed at?

This event is aimed at adults who are interested in learning more about lichens and urban park ecology. It is for absolute beginners to those who already have some knowledge.

How accessible is the event?

Accepted Answer

We will walk at a slow-moderate pace often on uneven or muddy park terrain. We will pause frequently to examine species closely. Species may be found at varying heights off the ground. You are free to leave the event at anytime. Please contact HelpNatureThrive@royalparks.org.uk for more information.

What should I wear?

This is an outdoor event so wear comfortable clothing that is suitable for being outdoors at this time of year. Sturdy footwear is advised as the ground may be wet or muddy.

Do I need to bring anything?

Accepted Answer

No, but if you have your own hand lens (jewellers loupe) or magnifying glass, please do feel free to bring it with you. We will hand out resources to share on the day.

Can I bring a dog?

We kindly ask that dogs do not accompany you to this event. Assistance dogs are welcome.

In front of the Italian Gardens Café, at the north end of Kensington Gardens.

How do I get there?

Accepted Answer

Nearest underground station is Lancaster Gate on the Central Line. Nearest train station is Paddington, a ten minute walk. Bus services along the Bayswater Road adjacent to the park. There are bike racks for cyclists outside the toilets by the Italian Gardens Cafe.

What happens is the weather is bad?

It will go ahead if cold or raining, but in the event of extreme weather the event may be rescheduled or cancelled at short notice.
