Overview

Are you interested in hosting hybrid events but don't know where to begin? Well, start with this workshop! A beginner's intro to the basics.

The date/time shown reflects the final date the recording will be available to view. Access instructions are included in your order confirmation and summarised at the bottom of this page.

HYBRID EVENTS — PRACTICAL OPTIONS, NOT TECH OVERLOAD

A straightforward workshop for charities that want to run hybrid events confidently, without specialist IT skills or extra pressure on staff and volunteers.

Many charities are curious about hybrid events — combining in-person activity with online participation — but feel unsure where to start. There’s often a sense that hybrid must be complicated, technical, or risky to get wrong.

This workshop is designed to remove that anxiety. It shows that hybrid events are far more achievable than most people expect, and that the majority of what makes them successful has very little to do with technology. Instead, it’s about planning, structure, and making sensible choices that build on skills charities already have.

The focus is on helping charities use hybrid approaches to widen reach, reduce dependency on physical spaces, and create more flexible, sustainable ways of engaging communities.

WHAT THIS WORKSHOP FOCUSES ON

This session breaks hybrid events down into clear, manageable steps, suitable for charities of any size.

You’ll work through:

  • Which events work well as hybrid
Understanding when hybrid adds value — and when it doesn’t.
  • Planning hybrid events sensibly
How to think through format, audience, and purpose without overcomplicating things.
  • Promotion and engagement
Practical ways to market hybrid events so both in-person and online audiences feel included.
  • Choosing simple, reliable platforms
An overview of commonly used tools and what they’re best suited for.
  • What to do on the day
Clear guidance on running events smoothly and confidently.
  • Practical tips that make a real difference
Small adjustments that significantly improve experience for everyone involved.

The emphasis throughout is on confidence, clarity, and repeatability, not perfection.

WHO THIS WORKSHOP IS FOR

This workshop is particularly suited to:

  • Small and medium-sized charities
  • Community organisations and volunteer-led groups
  • Staff or volunteers responsible for events and outreach
  • Organisations looking to increase reach without increasing costs

No advanced technical knowledge or prior experience with hybrid events is required.
