Linocut and Letterpress workshop (weekend)
Explore combining linocut and letterpress in colour with Nick Morley (Linocutboy). Suitable for beginners and those with some experience.
In this two day workshop you will explore a combination of linocut and letterpress printing, under the expert guidance of Nick Morley (aka Linocutboy). Taking a playful approach, you will have a chance to explore text and image together in new and interesting ways.
You will learn the basics of linocut, including cutting and printing your design. Find out how to make different carved marks using a variety of tools, how to plan your design and how to get a good print by controlling your ink.
Nick will also show you how to use Hello Print Studio's collection of wood type to make words or take a more experimental approach and explore the shapes of individual characters to create blocks of colour, geometrical shapes or patterns.
Over the course of two days you will learn:
- Mark making with a range of linocut tools
- Planning and printing a simple linocut design
- Printing with and without a press.
- Mixing and layering colours
- Working with colour blends
- Printing with wood type
This workshop is suitable for beginners and those with some previous experience. Maximum class size is 4 people.

The workshop runs from 10am to 4.30pm, Saturday and Sunday. We take a 45 minute lunch break around 12.30/1pm.
