Debate: THB Multiculturalism is Not Compatible With Liberalism
Is Multiculturalism compatible with Liberalism?
Some argue that multiculturalism is not compatible with liberalism because certain cultural practices may conflict with liberal values such as individual freedom and equality. They believe that tolerating all traditions can risk allowing discrimination or limiting personal choice, which goes against the core principles of liberalism.
Others argue that multiculturalism can work within a liberal framework if individual rights and equal laws are upheld. From this view, cultural diversity is acceptable as long as liberal values remain protected, allowing multiculturalism and liberalism to coexist.
