If you are from another district and wish to attend, please contact Sarah Howell (Howells@methodistchurch.org.uk) who may be able to accomodate a slot dependent on number of bookings.

Aims of the training

The Advanced Module will enable participants to consolidate and develop their previous safeguarding learning and:

  • Explore what this means in your designated role of responsibility within the Church
  • Further equip you with skills and resources to be confident in promoting good safeguarding practice in the Church, workplace and community
  • Extend your understanding of responding well to different groups within the Church community.

Completing the training

To complete this Safeguarding Advanced Module, you will be required to undertake:

  • the online e-learning section of the course, lasting between 4 and 7 hours. This is accessed through MCBX: Creating Safer Spaces – Advanced Module | MCBX
  • a 2 hour interactive 'gathered' session to consolidate your learning and have space to discuss any questions you may have.

The training should not be undertaken by anyone without agreement from either The Methodist Church HR team or your Line Manager.

Renewing Training

The requirement to renew training every four years will only apply to the highest level of safeguarding training undertaken by an individual. Where the Foundation and Advanced Modules are required, following attendance at both courses, only a repeat of the Advanced Module will be necessary in future years.
