WW2 Live: Why Do We Remember the Second World War? (Free KS2–KS3 )

Commemorate and explore the Second World War with Mr Dilly’s History Live — part of his World of History streams for schools. Created and presented by Mr Dilly, a performer and educator who has brought history to life for over a quarter of a million children nationwide.

Each stream goes live at 9:15am GMT on the date you choose. You don’t need to watch at 9:15 — once it goes live, you can watch any time, 24/7, for 7 days from that start time.

• A curator-led guided tour of key galleries and collections
• Artefacts, eyewitness accounts and personal stories that bring D-Day (and the wider war) to life
• Studio segment with special guest Tom Palmer (award-winning author of After the War, Arctic Star and D-Day Dog)
• Watch Mr Dilly’s celebrated short film marking VE Day 80 — a creative retelling of the war featuring Mr Dilly in multiple roles from the period.
  

A quick note for schools: Back by popular demand, this is another chance to watch the same stream first shown in November 2025 (the content is the same).

Filming style: The on-location museum sections are filmed using mobile phone equipment, giving an authentic “right there with Mr Dilly” feel — more like a YouTube-style museum visit than a polished TV documentary.
