LSFF: Wildest Grief (screening only)

LSFF: Wildest Grief (screening only)

Metroland StudiosLondon, England
Saturday, Jan 24 from 6 pm to 7:30 pm GMT
Overview

Experimental shorts on grief and ritual.

Event Timings - Doors: 5.45pm / Film programme: 6.00pm

Grieving is a ritual, solitary or communal. We invite you into a space where time is held for grief to be felt with intention and care. With the context of Judith Butler’s theory of grievability, we ask: who is considered grievable in our societies, and who is permitted the space to grieve? A grieving ritual can allow expression and alchemy, and the clarity to name what we mourn, and what we hope to seed.

The Landmarks of Memory, dir. Christina Hajjar, Canada 2023, 7 mins
A Night We Held Between, dir. Noor Abed, Palestine 2024, 30 mins
Besmel (Slaughter), dir. Sahand Sarhaddi, Iran/U.K. 2023, 8 mins
demarcations; you have black eyes (cheshmeh siya dari), dir. Zelikha Zohra Shoja, U.S. 2023, 9 mins
Practical Portals, dir. Marwa Eltahir, Sudan/U.S. 2022, 14 mins

Contains scenes of injury, animal cruelty, and flashing images.

This programme is curated by Gamze Şanlı.
