Using discussion, case studies, and the sharing of Abianda’s experience of using the National Referral Mechanism, this seminar provides vital reflection and challenge of the mechanism and how it might more effectively support girls and young women.
The training is CPD certified, and attendance at the whole session will result in a certificate of completion.
Learning objectives
- An increased awareness of the Modern Slavery Act (2015), and how this can support our work around criminal exploitation, typically associated with ‘gangs’ and county line activity
- An increased understanding of how to use the National Referral Mechanism (NRM), its purpose and process;
- An increased understanding of how the NRM can support criminally exploited young women and the possible challenges and pitfalls
- An increased knowledge of how to implement or advocate for an NRM referral being made;
- An increased understanding of learning from practice that might support positive outcomes for girls and young women
