OCD: Looking Beyond the Stereotypes
OCD is far more than stereotypes. Join an honest conversation about the realities people are rarely brave enough to share.
🧠 OCD: Beyond the Stereotypes — An Honest, No-Holds-Barred Conversation
OCD is one of the most misunderstood mental health conditions. It’s often reduced to jokes about cleanliness, routines, or being “a bit OCD” - but for those living with it, the reality is far more complex, distressing, and consuming.
This webinar strips away the stereotypes and opens up an honest, unfiltered conversation about what OCD really looks like , including the parts that are rarely talked about.
Through real experiences and open discussion, we’ll explore the thoughts, fears, shame, exhaustion, and impact OCD can have on everyday life, relationships, parenting, education, and work. This is not a polished or sanitised overview, it’s about telling the truth.
We’ll explore:
- What OCD actually is and what it definitely isn’t
- Intrusive thoughts and compulsions people are often afraid to talk about
- How OCD can show up in children, young people, and adults
- The emotional toll of living with constant fear, doubt, and mental exhaustion
- Why stigma and stereotypes cause real harm
- What meaningful understanding and support really look like
This session is for people with lived experience, parents, carers, professionals, and anyone who wants to truly understand OCD beyond the myths, minimisation, and clichés.
Expect honesty. Expect challenge. Expect compassion.
Because understanding starts when we stop pretending OCD is something it’s not.
The important bits you need to know:
- All webinars are recorded except where we explicitly state they will not be
- When you sign up, we will send you the link to the webinar. You’ll get reminder emails in the run-up to the event so long as you don’t unsubscribe from Eventbrite emails
- When you join the webinar your camera and microphone are automatically turned off so we cannot see or hear you.
- If you are delayed then don’t worry about joining late.
- If something comes up and you cannot make it then don’t worry as all ticketholders are sent a link to the recording of the webinar the next day. This is then available to you for 30 days.
- Slides, references and CPD certificates are also sent out the next day.
- Join live and you have the chance to ask any questions you might have.
