In this powerful and personal lightning talk, Alison Buchanan talks candidly about her journey as an internationally acclaimed opera singer and on becoming the only black, female  Artistic Director of an opera company in Europe. Alison will reflect on what ambition has meant at different stages of her career—finding her voice both literally and metaphorically, navigating barriers in the arts, nurturing the next generation of singers and leading with purpose in a sector that has historically been resistant to difference.
