Excavation Trainee Week Monday 20th July - Friday 24th July 2026
Have you always wanted to have a go at being an Archaeologist? Well, now you can….
Have you always wanted to have a go at being an Archaeologist? Well, now you can…. Whether you are new to archaeology or looking to gain some practical experience for an educational course, we have several opportunities to get involved.
This is our fourth year digging a site which offers the rare and important opportunity to study the origins of a long-abandoned upland settlement at the historic Cwmffwrn farmstead, which lies within the home grange of Abbey Cwmhir, in mid Wales.
Abbey Cwmhir Heritage Trust welcomes you to work alongside our team of dedicated volunteers, led by Trysor, our professional archaeologists, over two weeks in July 2026.
This event is for one of our Trainee Weeks over five days, Monday 20th July to Friday 24th July, price is £450.00 for the week. Each day, you will be working as part of a small group at the heart of the excavation. The training will be tailored to your individual needs, whether you are learning the basics or developing existing excavation skills. For those who require it, it can be documented in your own Archaeology Skills Passport (BAJR)
For further information, visit our website https://abbeycwmhir.org/events/excavation-2026/
You will need to book your own accommodation.
