Worldwide volatility has led to increased unrest and growing authoritarianism across western nations, as well as increased authoritarian populism globally. The far right has consolidated power while left-wing political movements face different sources of internal division and external attack. What is the state of sociological class analysis given momentous global challenges? To what extent can class theory rooted in Marxist thought speak to present shifts in global modes of production?
