The Outsiders Excursion - March 2026

The Outsiders is a friendly networking adventure group for freelancers and small business folks in and around Edinburgh! Join us!

NEXT EXCURSION: Friday 27th March 2026

Join us to wander along this gently meandering stretch of the River Esk from Musselburgh. The out-and-back route will be easy walking with plenty of opportunity to chat and meet new people!

Enjoy relaxed chat with like-minded freelancers and small business folks. We'll be walking for around 1.5 hours, so you'll want comfy footwear, and be prepared for all weathers!

🚌 Bus and train options, plus places to lock bikes too.

🚙 We promote public transport, walking & cycling and will be in touch about car sharing. Free parking is available at Tesco Extra.

The Outsiders is a friendly bunch of freelancers, flexi-workers and small business owners for some fresh air, relaxed chat, and enjoy Edinburgh's incredible varied landscapes.

Will I be able to do the walk?

We aim to ensure the walks are as accessible as possible and will do our best to indicate where they might be more challenging. If you have any questions at all about the route you can contact Katie who will be happy to help.

🥾: Easy route - flat paths, suitable for all who can walk 5km comfortably

🥾🥾: Medium route: paths with some hills or uneven surfaces, still suitable to most, but not if you have any underlying injury or condition.

🥾🥾🥾: Hard route: challenging route that will be suitable for those who are confident walkers.

We do our very best to create safe and enjoyable outdoor community events, however, The Outsiders do not take responsibility for accidents or injuries. By attending, participants acknowledge that they do so at their own risk. While we make every effort to select safe and accessible routes, it is each participant’s responsibility to ensure they are physically able to take part, dress appropriately for Scotland’s changeable weather, come with their own food and drinks, and wear suitable footwear.

We also ask that everyone who attends these events do so in the spirit of the group. We have devised a Community Code of Collaboration which outlines these expectations.
