Wet Felting

Wet Felting

Overview

Create your own artwork using ancient wet felting techniques

Wet felting is based on an ancient craft with a modern twist. Learn the basics by creating a decorative picture using wool roving or combed wool fibres.

You will explore various techniques such as using pre-felts, silk fibres, yarns and scraps of chiffon and silk fabrics for design effects. Using just water, a little soap and lots of rubbing and agitation, watch the wool fibres transform magically into your own piece of textile art.

All materials and equipment will be supplied, together with tea, coffee and homemade cake.

You are welcome to bring along your own inspirational images, if you have a design in mind. Please also bring 2 towels and an apron, to avoid your clothes getting too wet!

This workshop is suitable for both total beginners to felting and those with a little experience.

The class will be led by Catherine from Handmade Workshops.

“a really enjoyable activity – a brilliant use of a Sunday morning”
