Overview

Aimed at new & existing DSL's in education and other workplaces. This course is suitable for those working both with children and adults.

This is a full day CPD Accredited course, aimed at new and existing Designated Safeguarding Leads in education and other workplaces. This course is suitable for those working both with children and those working with adults.

The learning outcomes are as follows:That by the end of the training, those attending will have:

  • Explored key areas of DSL responsibility, how the role works in their organisation and where the challenges are
  • Been informed of current trends and patterns in safeguarding
  • Received a safeguarding update including KCSIE 2025 and the new mandatory duty to report child abuse
  • Explored issues of best practice including handling allegations against staff, creating safe workplaces, making safeguarding decisions, recording, and sharing information
  • Discussed good safeguarding structures including positive workplace cultures; reinforcing staff knowledge and skills; good practice in responding to safeguarding and allegations against staff; raising awareness with those they work with; and effective multi agency partnerships.
  • Considered work specific scenarios facilitating discussion around different aspects of safeguarding issues that may be countered in their schools or workplaces.
  • Explored good practise issues around sharing information, good record keeping, staff support, and self-care
  • Next steps for them as practitioners and in their individual schools/organisations
