Overview

Experience our open garden afternoons. These relaxed events give you the freedom to explore the garden at your own pace.

Explore our no-dig trial area, large vegetable patch featuring unique Heritage Seed Library vegetables, our glasshouse, National Comfrey Collection, and several wildlife ponds. This working organic garden also features dedicated areas showing you how to grow organically, even in small spaces, including container gardening, maximising vertical spaces, and gardening for climate change. For those who would like to learn more about our organic demonstration garden, guided tours led by our expert gardening team will also be available to sign up for on the day.

Join us to discover how we grow delicious organic food, including fascinating heritage varieties. Our expert gardening team will be on hand during the open day to share their knowledge and practical advice on tackling common gardening challenges, such as natural pest control and water-wise techniques. We’ll also explore the benefits of crop rotation and no-dig methods, inspiring you to nurture a thriving, productive garden.

Short walking tours led by our expert team of gardeners will take place at 1:30 and 2:30pm on the day, allowing you to see behind-the-scenes of our working garden and learn more about composting, gardening without peat and pesticides, and how to encourage more wildlife.

There will be opportunities for you to ask the experts your organic gardening questions, plenty of time for you to explore and enjoy the garden on your own, light refreshments will be available. We recommend wearing clothing and footwear suitable for the outdoors.
