Overview

This interactive session helps therapists meet their annual CPD requirements, refresh, reflect and deepen their safeguarding knowledge.

This interactive session helps therapists meet their annual CPD requirements, refresh, reflect and deepen their safeguarding knowledge.

Is it for me?

This session is ideal for therapists who have previously completed the Safeguarding Awareness Session and are looking to either update your safeguarding practice, or for those who already have a good understanding of safeguarding in therapy and are looking to deepen reflective practice.

It is for therapists (including trainees) working with adults and/or children in any setting. You can be in private practice or employed by an organisation. This session complements my previous safeguarding training, grounded in systemic joined up thinking, but also can be attended as a stand-alone session if you can have completed safeguarding training elsewhere.

What will we cover?

  • Refresh your safeguarding knowledge – Ensure you are up to date with the most recent legislation and policy guidance for child and adult safeguarding.
  • Explore ethical dilemmas and practice issues – Understand the link between safeguarding and your ethical guidelines (for both BACP and UKCP).
  • Delve deeper into the potential blind spots therapists encounter in safeguarding, including the impact of unconscious bias, influence of modality and systemic oversight
  • New real case studies, with outcomes.
  • Opportunities for group discussion and networking.

How is it delivered?

The session is delivered over Zoom, with a mixture of informative presentation, small and large group discussions and opportunities for questions and reflections.

Groups are small (Maximum 14 participants) and provide a safe space to explore safeguarding with other therapists.

Due to the interactive nature of the training, sessions are not recorded and course content

is only provided to attendees.

Colleagues from Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland, and other countries are welcome, but

any safeguarding legislation and practice guidelines referred to applies to England.
