Multifunctional flat optics: translating scientific innovation into smartphone technology

Flat optical systems based on metasurfaces are transforming the way light is manipulated by integrating focusing, spectral filtering, and sensing within a single ultrathin platform. This work follows the journey from fundamental advances in nanophotonics to real-world integration in smartphones, emphasizing performance breakthroughs, scalable fabrication, and the expanding scientific and commercial potential.

About the forum: The Plasmonics Forum has been running since 2015, and it typically attracts over 100 participants from London, UK, Europe and beyond. It aims to engage and connect researchers and industry who work in the ever-expanding field of Plasmonics.

The forum is open to all researchers and companies in London, the UK, Europe and worldwide.

Talks and poster session: The Plasmonics Forum is committed to showcasing the research of exceptional early career researchers (ECRs) working in the field. Continuing the tradition of the Plasmonics Forum, the majority of our speakers are ECRs, and we welcome applications for short talks and poster presentations.

Oral presentation deadline: 29 April 2026 - 25.59 (BST)
Poster presentation deadline: 14 May 2026 - 23.59 (BST)
