Retro Reels brings 1980s movie magic to Riverside Museum!

Step back in time and immerse yourself in the unforgettable world of 1980s cinema, on a nostalgic journey through the props, stories, and creativity that shaped a generation.

Featuring an extraordinary collection of replica props from some of the most iconic films of the decade. Highlights include George Lucas’ galactic movie saga, showcasing legendary intergalactic props; the Time-Traveling Doctor, complete with fan favourites such K9 and Daleks, and a replica of the show-stopping DeLorean from Back to the Future.

To support the needs of visitors who can find a museum visit overwhelming and prefer a quiet environment this session will have -

  • Restricted visitor numbers to prevent crowds
  • Sounds from audio-visual displays, interactives and films will be switched off where possible.
  • Hand dryers in the bathrooms switched off
  • A quiet space available
  • Sensory kits containing fidget toys and ear defenders to borrow.

These sessions are essentially for, but not limited to, people with autism, additional needs, neurodivergence or sensory needs who may prefer a more relaxed experience. As well as their families, friends, and carers.
