Animal sanctuary: a poetry workshop
another chance to catch this fundraising poetry workshop - celebrating sanctuary, and the animals whose lives surround and enrich ours.
this is another chance to attend "Animal Sanctuary" - an online poetry writing workshop which will celebrate animals not just for their significance to humans, but also as more-than-human beings in their own right. Drawing from a range of poets, we’ll re-imagine our relationships with animals and blur the boundaries between the human and more-than-human. We’ll also celebrate the work of West Yorkshire’s Full of Joy – an animal sanctuary which specialises in caring for traumatised animals who need expert care - and we’ll consider how animals and humans can offer each other sanctuary.
What to expect?
A warm and welcoming 150 minute workshop, suitable for new and experienced poets alike. I’ll share poetry to inspire you; poetic techniques to inform you; and simple exercises to get you writing! We’ll start promptly at 10am and finish punctually at 12.30; with an optional 10 minute half-time break. There will some opportunities to share your thoughts and your words, but interaction is entirely optional. You can take part with your screen and mic on or off.
Clare Shaw:
An award-winning Bloodaxe poet whose fifth collection will be published next year, Clare is a popular tutor who works with many literary organisations including Arvon, Poetry School, Ty Newydd and the Royal Literary Fund.
