Children's Residential Support Worker — greater.jobs Stockport
As a Residential Support Worker, you’ll be a steady, trusted presence in a young person’s life — helping them develop confidence, skills and independence. No two days are the same, but each one makes a difference.
Your role will include:
· Daily Care: Supporting children with routines like getting ready for school, mealtimes, and winding down at night.
· Emotional Support: Listening, talking, and helping children manage big feelings with patience and empathy.
· Education & Activities: Encouraging hobbies, new experiences and learning that build confidence and joy.
· Health & Wellbeing: Promoting healthy routines, attending appointments, and supporting medication when needed.
· Positive Behaviour Support: Helping children feel understood and supported, using de-escalation when required.
· Teamwork: Working closely with your colleagues to plan care, reflect together, and create consistent, nurturing homes.
· Recording: Keeping accurate notes on wellbeing, progress and achievements.
· Sleep-In Shifts: Offering calm, reassuring overnight support so children feel safe at all times.
This is deeply rewarding work — challenging at times, but full of moments that remind you why you do it. You’ll help children believe in themselves and start to trust the adults around them again.
