Part of Spring Into Action (3-19 April 2026), two weeks of free, nature-themed events and opportunities to be active, creative and celebrate the return of Baltic's beloved wild residents and Spring in all its glory.

Nature is everywhere - you just need to know where to look. Join us and the Natural History Society of Northumbria (NHSN) for a guided trail along the Gateshead and Newcastle Quayside, uncovering the wildlife hiding in plain sight. From tiny plants pushing through pavement cracks to surprising low-tide habitats, wild bees and city-dwelling ladybirds. Our expert naturalist guides will open your eyes to the living world all around us.

Open to all ages, families welcome.

Please note: This trail is 1 hour 15 minutes long and takes place outdoors. Suitable for all ages and we’ll adapt content depending on our visitors. We’ll do our best to keep to time, but want to accommodate everyone. Please wear sensible footwear and bring a waterproof layer if rain is forecast. The route is wheelchair accessible and pushchair friendly. Participants take personal responsibility for their safety and welfare throughout the tour.

Part of Birds, Bees, Bikes & Trees, a partnership project between Baltic, North East Young Dads & Lads and Newcastle University, funded by the National Lottery Climate Action Fund.
