Professor Sally Day will deliver her Inaugural Lecture, marking a key milestone in her career as she reflects on her research in the area of liquid crystals at UCL Electronic and Electrical Engineering.

This event celebrates her promotion to Professor and offers an opportunity to explore her innovative work.


Lecture title: A life in Liquid Crystals

Abstract: Engineering is for people and by people, and this will be illustrated in this Inaugural Lecture. Professor Sally Day traces a career driven by a love of maths and science, and a passion for applying them through engineering to real-world challenges. From the physics of liquid crystals to applications in wearable technology and engineering education, she reflects on the research that has defined her work at UCL Electronic and Electrical Engineering - and on the colleagues, students and mentors who have shaped it alongside her.

There will be a live jazz band and choir performance following the lecture.

Everyone is welcome!


Our Inaugural Lectures are free to attend for all students, staff and members of the public.

Lectures are typically one hour long. A drinks reception will follow, to which everyone is welcome to join.
