15 Years of Hot Numbers – Delta Tom aka Tom Colborn

Overview

Friday lates live music at Gwydir

Delta Tom (aka Tom Colborn) has made a name as a powerhouse of the idiom. His repertoire includes driving delta slide and rambunctious ragtime but shows influences from far beyond the blues.

Tom was one of the early supporters of music at Hot Numbers and returns once more to Gwydir St to bring us his unique and engaging approach to Blues music.Colborn’s songs are rooted in the tradition and branch into the startling and original.

He has jammed with late greats such as Louisiana Red and Sam Mitchell. He has played Abbey Road Studios, The Twelve Bar Club, ‘What’s Cookin’, Bestival, Broadstairs Folk Festival, Rhythm Riot, the Edinburgh Fringe amongst others.Tom has recently written, directed, scored and produced a three part series: ‘Recurrent Patton’ which delves into the incurable bite of the blues bug - and much more.

“There are many different sides to Delta Tom, the humorist, the traditionalist and the serious musician as well as the more jokey but the bottom line is that this is an album that puts smile on your face.” Album review of ‘Straight to Hell’ by Andy Snipper in ‘Blues Matters’ (Issue 115).
