Walk around Great Amwell

Event details:

A gentle walk, about 4.5 miles in total, exploring the Great Amwell area: we'll walk along part of the 'New River', which still carries drinking water to London, and the River Lea, and pause at the Amwell Quarry Nature Reserve to see if we can spot any interesting birdlife.

Dogs are welcome but will need to be on lead for some or most of the walk - definitely in the Nature Reserve, for example.

Special requirements: As usual for SWD walks, you'll need comfortable walking shoes/trainers. This walk is in late May, so hopefully you need a sunhat and suncream but you may need a raincoat instead!

Cafe meet up afterwards: For those who would like a coffee or lunch afterwards, allow extra time, we'll drive a few minutes from the car park to the Van Hage Garden Centre at Great Amwell and use their cafe - which is also dog friendly.

We'll start and finish at the High Street Car Park in Stanstead Abbotts. The Car Park is Council owned and currently costs £2.10 for 3 hours.
