For the session I’ll be doing a relaxed and practical talk on how to make everyday foods more gut friendly, especially using foods that often appear in the community fridge like bread, bananas and leftover vegetables. I’ll explain in simple terms why fibre is so important for our gut bacteria and long-term health, and why many popular diets and food trends might help people lose weight short term but don’t always support long-term health and vitality. The focus will be on small, realistic tweaks using foods people already have. I'll cover things like:• how to increase fibre easily• simple resistant starch tips (like cooled potatoes and freezing bread)• ideas for turning fridge foods into soups, tray bakes and smoothies
