Blank Slate: Tides of Voice

Join artist and folkloric singer, Luzmira Zerpa for a creative workshop exploring how our voices can connect with the world around us.

In this interactive session, you’ll discover the power of call-and-response singing, a musical tradition found in many cultures where voices answer and respond to one another. Together we’ll explore how sound can be inspired by the natural environment around our city, listening to elements like wind, waves and birds to create a shared soundscape.

Through playful vocal exercises, rhythm and improvisation, you’ll experiment with how individual voices can come together to build a collective piece of music.

Open on anyone aged 13 to 16 years. No singing experience is needed — just curiosity and a willingness to try something new!

Try fun vocal warm-ups and breathing exercises, and work together to build a short collective vocal composition. Using everyone’s ideas, we’ll create and record a collective soundscape.
